It would be worthless anyway. From the Highdefdigest -
When HDMI 1.3 arrives, it will allow the new codecs mentioned above to be transmitted in their native bitstream, but only if they were authored in 'Basic' mode (no interactivity). If the soundtrack was authored in Advanced mode, then it cannot be transmitted in undecoded form; decoding in the player is mandatory because of live mixing.
So far, all HD DVD soundtracks have been authored in Advanced mode. Which means nothing will change when new receivers arrive on the market. Despite having HDMI 1.3 transmission and decoders built into the receiver, decoding will still have to take place in the player.

Thanks for the information, this is always in the back of my mind. I think this whole Advanced/Basic mode thing is confusing and perhaps misleading. The newly announced Denon Blu-Ray 2500 player and Onkyo 805 HD-DVD player are both touting bitstream output to receivers/processors with decoders built-in. If this whole Advanced/Basic thing holds any water what would be the point of high-res bitstream output from players and internal decoders in receivers/processors as both would be pointless and could never be used. This would then just add unnecessary cost to the devices and PR about such features unwarranted. There must be more to this then people seem to realize based on the specs alone and I guess we will finally be able to find out one way or the other this fall when the first bitstream output capable players are paired with receivers with the new decoders built in as I don't think at present there are any players that can output the high-res audio via bitstream.

Speculation from the previous RV-5 thread seems correct. The specs appear to match the H/K AVR-745.
Hopefully Lexicon fixed reported bugs and added full adjustments to the LOGIC7 modes.

Gary,
I was wondering why the text you quoted looked so familiar, until I realized that I wrote it over 8 months ago in a post at AVS. Josh had requested use of the text for an article he was writing about HDMI 1.3 features, which I guess finally published 2 days ago. That's some gap. I'd completely forgotten about it until seeing your post.
Anyway, I'm going to post a link for others to read the full article. Josh did a thorough job covering HDMI 1.3 myths.

Can I post images directly from my computer here? I've taken some shots of the ad.
Also, the four logos pictured on the receiver are:
- Dolby Digital, Digital-EX, Pro-Logic IIX
- DTS 96/24, ES, NEO:6
- LOGIC 7
- HDMI

Yes, it should be required reading for a lot of people to keep from buying stuff for the wrong reasons.

I'm sure that the parts quality is upgraded between Lex RV-5 and the HK AVR745, but I'm looking for something reasonable to get into separates. Anyone have an opinion on buying the HK745 (all over the net for 999.00 right now and buying a good long lasting mult channel amp and maybe adding a better pre/pro in a couple of years or so when these HDMI and processing issues have worked themselves out a little more? I've just never listened to the HK stuff before (well, since the 70's, anyway) Thanks.

Thanks again for the info. Based on this it looks like Lex has decided to go the route that on board decoding of the next gen audio formats should not be done in the receiver but take place in the player. I would bet that the HDMI version is either 1.1 or 1.2 and not 1.3(a) in light of the logos appearing on the device. For anyone looking into getting this receiver I truly hope that 1080p is supported in both of it's forms and to a lesser degree that it can pass 7.1 audio. If not I personally find it disappointing that over a year since the MC-12HD has been on the streets Lexicon has not addressed such a wanted set of features for the ever growing Blu-Ray and HD-DVD releases out there.
